Harry Potter 6 got pushed back till July 29th at imax in America. So Glad that didnt happen here, did it?
  • RT 401 years ago
From "Kranendonk" comment The reason for the Imax push back in the US is due to giving Transformers min 4 weeks requirement, so as HP was opening two weeks after Transformers 2 , US Imax theatres have to delay two further weeks with Imax (with exception to 1 theatre in NYC & LA) , Not the case here of hand not sure if a delay is the case elsewhere

Can any one confirm what scenes are actually in 3D?
    • We can't tell you exactly which scenes, but the film is being promoted with the following tagline for IMAX:

"EXPERIENCE THE EXPLOSIVE OPENING EXCLUSIVELY IN IMAX 3D".

I guess that's an indication you'll be wearing those 3D glasses right at the start!

Tickets are on sale now, so if you want to be one of the first to see the film here in Darling Harbour, be quick! Tickets for the opening weekend of Transformers 2 had completely sold out in the week beforehand. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will no doubt be the same.

hey,,how do you make it like really big,,meanwhile if we like make it really big screen the quality would be really bad...how do u make it become a good quality eventhough in a really big screen...?
    • It all comes down to the film, which in the case of IMAX, is 15perf/70mm - the biggest that exists. Read more on our website: http://www.imax.com.au/visitor_info/

All feature films shown at IMAX, such as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, have undergone a process of digital enhancement known as DMR or "digital remastering", which makes them suitable for screening in an IMAX theatre. Again, the internet can give you much reading on this subject....

It's a combination of things that make it really big, first you need big film, which as Julie said is 15/70. Then you need a series of big lenses, the smallest of ours are as big as an average mans palm. As for the quality, because the film is so large, it can capture more detail, which is a big help. Additionally, We manually focus for the best possible image. Hope this has answered your questions Elhaq -Imax Projection

Hey, my dad tried to book tickets to the midnight premiere on 15 July through this site but it came up with an error - something like "not available for this session". Does that mean the midnight showing is sold out or just that you need to buy tickets from the cinema in person?
    • Sorry, the midnight session is now fully sold out, but there are tickets available for all other sessions at this stage. We do expect tickets to sell out well in advance so we suggest purchasing online early to avoid disappointment.
