Prince of Persia Costume Designer's trade secret: A cement mixer

A nondescript street in a Marrakesh neighborhood known as the Zone Industrielle has a building that could be a warehouse or factory. But in the months leading up to the filming of “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” and during the duration of its Morocco
shoot, this building was a dream factory, housing a small army of cutters, costumers, cobblers, seamstresses, milliners, dyers, armorers and artisans, all working under the supervision of costume designer Penny Rose.

“There’s no one in her field like Penny,” says producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who enlisted her for the entire “Pirates of the Caribbean” trilogy. “Her attention to detail almost defies description, and her ability to find the exact right costumes to define characters is fantastic. Penny can organize anything, anywhere in the world. She’s a tough taskmaster, but we love her artistry.”

Sydney Swans take on fire-breathing dragons for Redkite kids

It was the Swans versus the Dragons at IMAX yesterday, when charity Redkite held a special event for children and their families in Darling Harbour. Players from the Sydney Swans gave everyone a treat by signing pictures and footies before donning their 3D glasses for a screening of the smash IMAX hit of the holidays, "How To Train Your Dragon 3D".

Providing real support to children, young people and their families through cancer has remained Redkite's single focus for over 25 years. Currently there are approximately 5000 families affected by childhood and adolescent cancer in Australia. Redkite is there with real and practical support for the whole family from the moment of diagnosis, throughout treatment and when families return home to the community. Children and young people from all major cities, regional areas and remote locations across Australia are supported by Redkite. Redkite receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of the community to provide these important services.
