ABC ULTIMO CENTRE TOURS

IMAX + ABC Ultimo Centre Tour

Take a behind-the-scenes guided tour of the ABC Radio & TV studios in Ultimo. There are 2 tours daily (up to 45 students total), at 9.50am and 12.20pm. As the site is a working space, no tour is ever the same, but is likely to include a visit to one of two state of the art digital television studios, an on air radio studio, news studio and make-up room, as well as an insight into other ABC content areas.

AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM: DINOSAURS

IMAX Flying Monsters 3D + 'Dinosaurs' exhibition

Combine a screening of the popular IMAX film FLYING MONSTERS 3D, with a visit to the new permanent exhibition 'Dinosaurs'.

Encounter an amazing array of dinosaurs in this exciting new exhibition at the Australian Museum! The world of dinosaurs is brought to life with skeletons, life-size recreated models, skulls, teeth, claws and hundreds of other fossils. Learn how new discoveries and latest technology are changing our understanding of these fascinating creatures. In an impressive line-up of stars you will meet some old dinosaur favourites such as Stegosaurus and Tyrannosaurus rex and see the Giganotasaurus, one of the giant dinosaurs from Patagonia.

AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM: SURVIVING AUSTRALIA

IMAX Australia: Land Beyond Time + 'Surviving Australia' exhibition

Combine a screening of Australia: Land Beyond Time at IMAX, with a visit to Surviving Australia - the new permanent exhibition at the Australian Museum.

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM

The Australian National Maritime Museum offers a range of exciting, curriculum-based tours and workshops. Topics covered range from maritime archaeology and chemistry for secondary students to weather and explorers for primary students. Combine your visit to the museum, located only a 10-min walk from the Theatre, with an IMAX screening of your choice. Films could include Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure or Antarctica for maritime exploration themes, or Forces of Nature or Tornado Alley 3D for themes related to weather.

NICHOLSON MUSEUM: ANCIENT EGYPT

Ancient Egypt at the Nicholson Museum

The Nicholson Museum at the University of Sydney has Australia’s largest public collection of archaeological artefacts from Egypt, Greece, Italy and the Middle East. The Egyptian collection spans all periods of Egyptian history from prehistoric times to Roman control of Egypt, with a particularly important collection of New Kingdom sculpture including a monumental bust of Rameses II (the pharaoh featured in Egypt 3D), and a diorite torso of Horemheb who was Tutankhamun’s regent and general. The museum is also the home to a number of mummies, including Padiashaiket the priest, as well as mummified cats, birds and crocodiles.

Sydney University Museums Education Program enables your students to explore the collection with an archaeologist and to take part in a workshop where they handle artefacts from Egyptian tombs, as well as material from other ancient Mediterranean cultures.

POWERHOUSE MUSEUM

IMAX film of your choice + a visit to the POWERHOUSE MUSEUM

Be completely flexible with this package! Visit any one of the many diverse exhibitions at The Powerhouse Museum and choose any IMAX film from our complete Film Library. Or see below for recommended themes.

Explore a multitude of exhibitions on topics from space science to design and technology. You can comfortably guide students through about 4 exhibitions during a 2 hour visit. Exhibitions include Space, Transport, Ecologic, Cyberworlds, Steam revolution, Boulton & Watt steam rotative engine and Experimentations. Optional science shows, Marvellous Machines Drawing Adventure program and Thinkspace workshops on specialist topics available at additional cost.

SYDNEY OBSERVATORY

SYDNEY OBSERVATORY + IMAX Hubble 3D

Combine a visit to Sydney Observatory, with a screening of Hubble 3D at IMAX. Planetarium sessions at the Observatory are optional extras. Ideal for all studies of 'Space'.

Look through a real working telescope, view a mini-planetarium show and 3D space theatre, and explore a range of hands-on exhibitions.

Allow approx. 1.5 hrs for your visit to the Observatory.
